Ceko’s story
One of the most famous places of the Pescarenico neighborhood is surely the fish market “Da Ceko”, a
small shop that opened thanks to the great passion of the Ghislanzoni family.
Every day, the market offers not only fresh local lake fish, but also good seafood. The idea of opening this
activity was born a few years ago from Francesco Ghislanzoni, also known as “Ceko”.
“Ceko” has been a fisherman for many generations now, in facts he has been doing this job since he was 7
years old and his motto was “chi dorme non piglia pesci” which means “slow and steady doesn’t win the
race”; in fact, he wakes up early in the morning and goes fishing.
At Ceko Bar Bistrot
Ceko’s shop is so widely known in the whole area that, together with this famous fish shop, also a small
bistrot “Da Ceko bar bistrot” has been opened, where it’s possible to have an appetizer based on fish.
The typical fish of Lake Como
In our Lake Como we can find a great variety of fish, of which the most important are chub, bleak, perch, pike, trout, carp, agone and catfish.

Madonna’s Chapel
Almost unknown, not marked on the city maps, the Madonna’s Chapel is, however, one of the symbols of Alessandro Manzoni’s life in the Pescarenico neighborhood.
He used to go to this place, near his house in the Caleotto neighborhood, during his walks, due to the devotion he had for the Virgin Mary.
