Osservatorio Alpinistico – Polo della Montagna

The observatory is located in the heart of Lecco, on the third floor of “Palazzo delle paure” in square XX September. The visit is divided in five stages and the majority f them are interactive

The first stage is about the most important mountain expeditions in the world. These expeditions are on a sliding screen which represents the world map. You can choose the one you like the most and read the explanation of the adventure.

The second and the fourth stage are a single path to discover and know the evolution of the mountain clothes. At the begging they didn’t use to employ too many tools, for example men didn’t use gloves or a T-shirt to climb and women used to go climbing wearing a skirt. Today the clothes are more professional, technical and safe. For example climbers use hobnail shoes, thermal suits and specific equipment.

The following stage is a interactive wall in which you can find different stories on famous climbers of Lecco. The activity will be explained through a game like ‘Guess Who?’ using some photos and some tales.

The last stage is a multimedial plastic in which you can see the all the mountains of the lake of Como and surroundings. You can also discover some specifics areas nearby the Lake, for example the Valsassina, the Bellano’s Gorge and some Glaciers. The tour offers some games about the mountain world like Memory, the game of the goose.
You can also watch and listen to some multimedial videos and if you want l, when you will finish the tour you can climb on a artificial climbing wall
